Dr. Joseph Kan received his training from Loma Linda University (LLU). He is a Professor and maintains a private practice.
Dr. Joseph Kan received 1997 Best Research Award from the Academy of Osseointegration (AO), 2003 Judson Hinckey Scientific Award from Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2019 Honorary Membership from Association of Dental Implantology, United Kingdom, 2020 Distinguished Research Award from LLU, and 2020 Distinguished Speaker Award from the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontist. In 2021, Dr. Joseph Kan received Honorary Membership for his contribution to the field of Periodontology as well as Clinical Research Award from the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Joseph Kan is on Editorial Board of International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, Journal of Esthetics and Restorative Dentistry. He was Program Chairman for the 2018 AO Annual Meeting and is on the AO Executive Board. In 2018, Dr. Joseph Kan performed live patient surgery on immediate implant placement and provisionalization with connective tissue graft at the Annual meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology in Vancouver BC, Canada.
In 2017, Fardi et al (Int J Maxillofac Implants), listed 4 of Dr. Joseph Kan’s publication as the 100 Top cited articles in Implant Dentistry. Then in 2020, Praveen G et al (J Prosthet Dent), cited 2 of Dr. Joseph Kan’s publications as the top 100 most cited articles in Prosthodontics.
Besides lecturing nationally and internationally, Dr. Joseph Kan has published over 140 referenced articles and book chapters on interdisciplinary treatment planning, periodontal peri-implant tissue management, and immediate tooth replacement concepts.
Dr. Purnima Kumar is the William and Mary K. Najjar Endowed professor of Dentistry and Chair of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan. She received her dental degree from Annamalai University in India, and her Masters in Periodontology and PhD in Molecular Microbiology from The Ohio State University. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program, the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fouchard Académie and the American Association of Oral, Dental and Craniofacial Research. Dr. Kumar is the Principal Investigator of Oral Microbial Ecology Laboratory at the University of Michigan that is funded through the NIH, NCI, and oral healthcare industry. She has authored over 100 papers and book chapters and serves as the Associate Editor of Periodontology 2000, Nature Scientific Reports and Senior Editor of Microbiome.
She is an active researcher, clinician, teacher, and administrator, has mentored several pre-dental, dental, master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral students and junior faculty colleagues, and has served on several grant review panels for the NIH. She serves as the Chair of the Continuing Education Oversight Committee for the AAP and was a member of the AAP’s Taskforce for Future Science. She also serves on the board of directors of the Osteology Foundation and the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. She is the Chair of the Council of Scientific Affairs of the ADA and is their official spokesperson on e-cigarettes and vaping. Dr. Kumar has served on various committees of IADR and is presently the President of the Periodontal Research Group. She also serves on several taskforces for women in science, women in surgery and women in STEM and volunteers for groups that empower women locally and nationally.
Franck Renouard graduated from the Faculty of Dental Surgery Paris V in 1982. Author of more than 50 articles and book chapters in French and English, For the past 20 years, F. Renouard has focused his research and lectures on the impact of human factors on the failure rate in medicine and at-risk industries. Drawing on his experience as a helicopter pilot, he has developed a specific teaching and regular lectures on the safety of human practices in nuclear power plants or for the fire fighters. Dr. Renouard served as President of the European Association of Osteointegration (EAO) from 2004 to 2006, of which he is currently an honorary member.He was board member of the Osteology Foundation. He serves as Vice President of the association Facteurs Humains en Santé.
Dr. Renouard is the author of 2 books, the most important of which, published in 10 languages under the title "Risk Factors in Implant Practice," has been the subject of a second and extensive edition. His latest book, co-authored with Jean-Gabriel Charrier, former professional pilot and instructor, is devoted to human factors and the notion of medical error in the health sector. This book “Search of the Weakest Link” has been translated into 3 languages. He runs an Oral Surgery private practice in Paris.
